I was hired by the Mahopac Water Panthers to design their logo and visual identity for their inaugural season. The Water Panthers are a semi-professional box lacrosse team based in Mahopac, New York.
The goal for this project was to create an identity system that honored the Native American history of both the town of Mahopac and the game of Lacrosse.
The “Water Panther” was chosen as the mascot in reference to a creature from Native American folklore. The Underwater Panther was the most powerful underworld being. It derived power from its long, powerful tail, which was often said to be made of copper.
